Eid-ul-Adha Toy Distribution Initiative Brings Joy to 800 Vulnerable Children in Kabul
The Afghanistan Green Crescent Organization (AGCO), in partnership with Amina Mobile Clinic and with generous support from Bloom Charity, successfully implemented the Eid-ul-Adha Toy Distribution Initiative across eight locations in Kabul Province. The project was designed to promote happiness, dignity, social inclusion, and emotional wellbeing among vulnerable children during the blessed occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.
Supporting Children Through Joy and Inclusion
Eid-ul-Adha is a special time of celebration, family gatherings, and gift-giving. However, many children in Afghanistan face economic hardship, displacement, illness, and other challenges that prevent them from fully enjoying the occasion. To help create positive memories and strengthen emotional wellbeing, AGCO distributed toys and gifts to children from vulnerable communities and hospitalized children in Kabul.
Project Objectives
The initiative aimed to:
- Enhance emotional wellbeing for 800 vulnerable children.
- Promote dignity, care, and social inclusion.
- Create positive childhood memories during Eid-ul-Adha.
- Strengthen psychosocial resilience through joyful experiences.
- Provide emotional support to hospitalized children.
- Reinforce community solidarity and compassion.
Distribution Coverage
The toy distribution reached 800 children across eight locations:
- Shiwaki – 90 children
- Dolana, Shakar Dara – 90 children
- Allah Rahim, Qarabagh – 100 children
- Haji Manji Township, Bagrami – 90 children
- Gul Bagh – 90 children
- Gel Surkh Village, Paghman – 90 children
- Mangal Village, Char Asiab – 100 children
- Atatürk Children’s Hospital – 150 children
Key Results
The initiative achieved significant positive outcomes:
- 800 direct child beneficiaries received Eid gifts.
- 5,600 indirect beneficiaries were reached through family members.
- 800 toys were distributed across Kabul Province.
- 150 hospitalized children experienced the joy of Eid while receiving medical treatment.
- Communities reported increased happiness, social interaction, and emotional wellbeing among children.
Impact at Atatürk Children’s Hospital
One of the most impactful components of the project took place at Atatürk Children’s Hospital, where 150 children receiving treatment were provided with toys and gifts. The initiative transformed hospital wards into spaces of celebration, bringing smiles, hope, and encouragement to children facing health challenges.
Parents, caregivers, and hospital staff expressed appreciation for the activity, noting that the gifts provided emotional support and helped children feel included in the Eid celebrations despite being away from home.
Strengthening Communities Through Compassion
The project created moments of happiness and hope for children living in vulnerable communities. Teachers, parents, and community leaders observed increased confidence, social engagement, and positive emotional experiences among participating children.
By supporting children during Eid-ul-Adha, AGCO and Bloom Charity reinforced the message that every child deserves dignity, care, protection, and opportunities for happiness regardless of their circumstances.
Financial Transparency
The project was implemented with a total expenditure of USD 4,989.28 (AFN 318,316). Approximately 80% of the budget was dedicated to purchasing toys, ensuring that the majority of resources directly benefited children. The average cost per child was approximately USD 6.24, demonstrating a highly cost-effective humanitarian intervention.
